Occurrence Rate of Radio-Loud and Halo CMEs in Solar Cycle 25: Prediction Using their Correlation with the Sunspot Number

چکیده

The coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from the Sun are known for their space weather and geomagnetic consequences. Among all CMEs, so-called radio-loud (RL) halo CMEs considered most energetic in sense that they usually faster wider than general population of CMEs. Hence study RL has become important prediction occurrence rate a future cycle will give warning advance. In present paper, rates solar (SC) 25 predicted. For this, we obtained good correlations between numbers each year yearly mean sunspot previous two cycles. predicted values SC by NOAA/NASA were as representative indices corresponding have been determined using linear relations. Our results show maximum number be around 39 $/pm$ 3 45 4, respectively. Removing backside events, set front-side events was also separately alone again. peak estimated to 31 29 These discussed comparison with sunspots different authors.

Width of Radio-Loud and Radio-Quiet CMEs

In the present paper we report on the difference in angular sizes between radio-loud and radio-quiet CMEs. For this purpose we compiled these two samples of events using Wind/WAVES and SOHO/LASCO observations obtained during 1996-2005. It is shown that the radio-loud CMEs are almost two times wider than the radio-quiet CMEs (considering expanding parts of CMEs). Furthermore we show that the rad...

Study of the Geoeffectiveness of Halo CMEs in different phases of solar activity cycle 23

3 Department of Physics, Govt. New Science College, Rewa, (M.P.), 486001, INDIA; __________________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract: Based on SOHO/LASCO catalogue and solar geophysical data, we studied the geoeffectiveness, solar source and flare association of a set of 397 halo CMEs during the period of 1996 to 2008. We find that Disk halos are ...

Super- and sub-critical regions in shocks driven by radio-loud and radio-quiet CMEs

White-light coronagraphic images of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) observed by SOHO/LASCO C2 have been used to estimate the density jump along the whole front of two CME-driven shocks. The two events are different in that the first one was a "radio-loud" fast CME, while the second one was a "radio quiet" slow CME. From the compression ratios inferred along the shock fronts, we estimated the Alfv...

Reconstruction of solar irradiance using the Group sunspot number

We present a reconstruction of total solar irradiance since 1610 to the present based on variations of the surface distribution of the solar magnetic field. The latter is calculated from the historical record of the Group sunspot number using a simple but consistent physical model. Our model successfully reproduces three independent data sets: total solar irradiance measurements available since...
